What a fantastic day!
When the project manager of the Notts & Derbyshire NCS project contacted me and asked if I could do the photography for an event he was organising, I gladly accepted, knowing very little about the project other than that he’d been working all the hours possible to ensure the project ran smoothly….
He said the event would be a celebration of the achievements of the kids involved, with an awards presentation ceremony and a bit of a party afterwards…
Well it was more than that!
The Hollywood theme was presented to the participants and staff as soon as they arrived with a red carpet lined with gold and silver balloons along with my paparazzi style flash! Some were taken by surprise somewhat!
Inside the venue, with Awards Ceremony style layout of the tables, the kids gathered in their teams ready for the start of the ceremony and speeches. And the Hollywood theme was taken to heart by some of the staff! Very Audrey Hepburn!
And once the speeches and presentations are complete, the party can start! I began by wandering the room capturing candids of the party, but having been asked by a few groups to take a picture of them, I quickly found a queue of groups and couples forming behind me! The next 2-3 hours passed in a blur!
And then it was over…..
Enjoyed it immensely, though it was hard work and intense!
Would I do it again? Damn right I would! Bring on the next program!
